Allergy choices and saved places

The website stores your allergy selections and saved restaurant IDs in your browser. The native app stores those choices in its local app storage. They are not uploaded by ForkFreely or synchronized between devices.

Local storage is not a separate encrypted medical record. Device or browser backups may include it. On the website, open Privacy → Clear saved device data to remove saved choices. In the native app, About → Reset saved choices clears favorites and restores the default allergy selections. Removing the app removes its local app data, subject to your device’s backup settings.

Search and location

Searches are matched on your device; the app does not send search text or allergy selections to restaurants. Location is requested only when you choose Use my location. The app rounds the returned coordinates to about a kilometer and uses them for the current session. It does not upload those coordinates or keep them in saved preferences.

You can deny location access and choose a borough or town instead. You can revoke location access in your browser or device settings.

Catalog downloads and hosting

The native app can download an updated restaurant catalog from the ForkFreely website. The request does not include your allergy selections, saved places or location. A downloaded catalog remains available for that app session; restarting loads the bundled catalog until you refresh again.

Hosting and network providers process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser or app information and request times, to serve the site and catalog. Their service policies govern their own logs; this notice does not promise that provider logs are absent.

Maps, restaurant sites and copied questions

The website requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which can see your IP address and the map area requested. The native app opens the website’s metro map when you choose that action.

Opening a menu, directions or another restaurant link takes you to an external service with its own privacy practices. Directions links contain the selected restaurant’s name and address. ForkFreely does not add your allergy selections or location to those links.

Copy questions places the displayed dish and allergy questions on your device clipboard. Nothing is sent to restaurant staff automatically. Your device’s clipboard and synchronization settings may affect who can access copied text.

Corrections and updates

ForkFreely shows restaurant website snapshots. Restaurant information and kitchen practices can change. See Help for source checks and how to handle an out-of-date listing. Changes to the app’s data practices will be reflected on this page.
